We need to

• Stop the TEA’s ability to take over school districts in such a hap-hazard manner and push back against HISD's takeover

• Defend public education from vouchers that would gut public schools and put state funds in private, unaccountable religious schools

• Increase starting teacher funding to $100,000+, with bonuses for teachers that teach in high poverty schools 

• Create Universal pre-K for all Texans 

• Decrease the stakes on high-stakes testing so the STAAR is part of a large basket of measures on school achievement

• Prohibit any Texas agency from stopping the teaching of true history in Texas

• Work against curriculum censorship and book banning in schools

• Remove bigotry and discrimination from textbooks and have comprehensive, science-based education in public schools

• Increase funding for Career and Technical Education (CTE) and apprenticeships in schools so more students of all backgrounds will have the opportunity to feel connected with what they’re working

• Moving towards equitable funding of schools to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision on Rodriguez vs. San Antonio so one’s zip code does not determine the funding of one’s school
